False-Positive Sent Matthew Stafford To COVID-19 List

Matthew Stafford never had COVID-19, after all.

The Lions announced Tuesday that Stafford has been returned to the active roster after it was determined he had a false-positive test last Friday that sent him to the Reserve/COVID-19 list a day later.

The Lions reported to Allen Park last Tuesday for three days of testing ahead of the start of training camp.

Stafford tested negative on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by his false-positive on Friday. His next three tests were all negative.

"To be clear, Matthew does NOT have COVID-19 and never has had COVID-19 and the test in question was a False-Positive," the Lions said in a statement Tuesday. "Also, all of Matthew’s family have been tested and everyone is negative."
