David DeJulius has chosen his next stop.

The former Michigan guard, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, announced Thursday he's headed to Cincinnati. He chose the Bearcats among a final four that also included Iowa State, Marquette, and Missouri.

Had he returned, DeJulius would have had a chance to be Michigan's starting point guard. He averaged 7.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists off the bench last season, playing behind senior point guard and co-captain Zavier Simpson.

The Wolverines will turn to Columbia transfer Mike Smith instead.

A Detroit native and lifelong Michigan fan, DeJulius posted a farewell message to Michigan on Twitter.

"Thank you to the University of Michigan for allowing me to fulfill a dream I had since I was 4 years of age," he wrote. I had wonderful coaches, teammates, professors, and faculty members. Most importantly I've built friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime. Whatever help I needed was provided for me in all aspects of life during my stay.

"Me being a product of the state of Michigan, I'll always be grateful and an advocate for the block M. Thank you to the fans and support that made me a better person. God and my faith in Him led me to Ann Arbor and I'll forever (be) grateful. Thank you so much! You all will be missed and always will be in my prayers."

Per NCAA rules, DeJulius will have to sit out the 2020-21 season at Cincinnati. He'll have two years of eligibility left starting in 2021-22.

The Bearcats went 20-10 last season and claimed a share of the AAC regular-season title with Houston and Tulsa. They were a bubble team ahead of the NCAA Tournament.
