The news isn't a major surprise as Muhammad, one of the country's top tight end recruits in 2018, hasn't seen much of the field at Michigan. He didn't play in any games last season and was limited to appearances this season against Middle Tennessee State and Rutgers.
Michigan has primarily used the duo of Sean McKeon and Nick Eubanks at tight end this year. Freshman Erick All and sophomore Luke Schoonmaker have seen some action as well. Even with McKeon and All sidelined in recent weeks, Muhammad was unable to get on the field.
A four-star recruit from Texas, Muhammad was ranked No. 6 among tight ends in 2018, according to 247 Sports. He had an impressive list of college offers, including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Auburn. For Michigan, his commitment seemed like quite the coup.
A year later, Muhammad's ready to move on. We'll see where he ends up.
