The team agreed to a three-year, $13.05 million deal with Chase Daniel on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter.
Daniel, a journeyman backup, spent the last two seasons with the Bears and beat Detroit on Thanksgiving in 2018.

March 17, 2020 It was a much-needed move for the Lions, who haven't had a steady backup for Matthew Stafford since Dan Orlovsky's second tour of duty ended in 2016. It was Jake Rudock for a couple years, then Matt Cassel, and then Jeff Driskel and David Blough last year.
Detroit's lack of depth was exposed in 2019 when Stafford missed the final eight games with a back injury -- and the team went 0-8. Stafford
expects to be a full-go for the start of this year's offseason program, but Daniel will provide the team some insurance in the event things go awry.
The Missouri product began his career with the Saints in 2010, then moved to the Chiefs, Eagles and back to the Saints again before winding up with the Bears. He has five starts over a nine-year career, but he's stuck around for a reason.
