The Lions are loading up on offense on Day 3 of the draft.
They selected New Mexico State running back Jason Huntley No. 172 overall, after taking WR Quintez Cephus earlier in the fifth round and guard Logan Stenberg in the fourth. He joins second-round pick D'Andre Swift as a newcomer in Detroit's backfield.
Huntley is known best for his versatility. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry in his senior season for the Aggies, and he's just as dangerous in the passing game. He's the only running back in the draft with 1,000 career receiving yards.
On top of that, he had five career touchdowns on kickoff returns.
Huntley will battle for playing time in Detroit's backfield with Bo Scarbrough, Ty Johnson, Tra Carson and Wes Hills.
