Once a Patriot, always a Lion.

The Lions added yet another ex-Patriot Wednesday in agreeing to a two-year, $8 million deal with defensive lineman Danny Shelton, according to Adam Schefter.

Shelton, a first-round pick (12th overall) of the Browns in 2015, spent the last two seasons in New England. He had a career year in 2019 with 61 tackles and 3.0 sacks over 16 games.

Detroit went into the offseason wanting to overhaul the interior of its defensive line. Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia haven't wasted any time. After releasing Damon Harrison and moving on from Mike Daniels and A'Shawn Robinson, they've added Shelton and former Bears DT Nick Williams.

Shelton will certainly beef things up inside with his 345-lb. frame. His namename in college? 'Feast Mode.'

The Lions have also shaken up their linebacker corps, cutting Devon Kennard and signing former Patriot Jamie Collins.

Detroit's defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2019. Patricia and Quinn have one more year to get it right, and they're hoping a makeover is the answer.
