The Lions have made a move to replace Quandre Diggs.
The team signed safety Marcus Gilchrist on Thursday, according to the Free Press. The nine-year veteran played 16 games last season for the Raiders, tallying three interceptions, six passes defended and 58 tackles.
He has a knack for finding the ball, with 14 career picks, including nine over his last four seasons.
Gilchrist, 30, has been a free agent throughout this year.
The Lions traded Diggs to the Seahawks on Tuesday, leaving themselves with a young secondary. Gilchrist will provide some needed experience. He's played in 123 games over his career for the Raiders, Texans, Jets and Chargers.
The Clemson product was a second-round pick in 2011.
It remains to be seen how much Gilchrist plays. The Lions have faith in Tracy Walker, rookie Will Harris and Tavon Wilson to fill the void left by Diggs. Either way, his experience will serve the team well.
