The Lions had three big holes entering Day 2 of the Draft, and they addressed each one.
Their final move was trading up 10 spots in the third round to select Ohio State guard Jonah Jackson No. 75 overall.
Detroit sent Indianapolis picks Nos. 85, 149 and 182 in exchange, while also getting back No. 197.
Jackson immediately becomes the frontrunner to step in at right guard on the Lions' offensive line, after the club let Graham Glasgow walk in free agency. He started all 14 games at left guard for the Buckeyes last season and was named first-team All-Big Ten.
He's said to be a strong pass blocker who plays with a mean streak. On the other hand, his run blocking could use some work.
It was a good day for Bob Quinn and the Lions. In addition to Jackson, they added a potential star to their backfield in Georgia RB D'Andre Swift in the second round, and bolstered their pass rush with Notre Dame DE Julian Okwara early in the third round.
The Lions will enter the final day of the draft with four picks, starting at No. 109.
