MSU's Mel Tucker Lands Fourth Commit In DT Derrick Harmon

Mel Tucker is starting to assemble his first recruiting class at Michigan State. 

He landed his fourth 2021 commit Wednesday and his third from Michigan in three-star DT Derrick Harmon from Detroit Loyola. 


Harmon, rated No. 59 nationally among defensive tackles and No. 31 overall in the state of Michigan by 247 Sports, chose MSU over the likes of Purdue, Ole Miss and Memphis.

It's the fourth commit in the past eight days for Tucker, who intends to make recruiting the "life blood" of MSU's program. 

Three-star RB Davion Primm from Oak Park was the first, followed by three-star OT Ethan Boyd from East Lansing and three-star S Gabe Nealy from Miami. Boyd, the highest-rated among them, also had offers from the likes of Minnesota and Cincinnati.

According to 247 Sports, MSU's 2021 class currently ranks No. 42 in the country and No. 13 in the Big Ten.
