It was a crazy notion to start with, and Urban Meyer put an end to it on Wednesday.
No, he told WBNS radio in Columbus, he's not going to succeed Jim Harbaugh as head coach at Michigan.
"That's not going to happen," Meyer said, via ESPN.com.
The idea gained traction when the odds surfaced this week for Harbaugh's replacement after Michigan was blown out in yet another big road game, this one at Wisconsin. Multiple betting sites listed Meyer at 7/1, behind the likes of Stanford's David Shaw, Virginia's Bronco Mendenhal and Syracuse's Dino Babers.

— THE™️ David Hale (@ADavidHaleJoint) September 23, 2019If Meyer, 55, has any desire to return to the sideline, it won't be in Ann Arbor.
And for the time being, he sounds content with his gig as an analyst for Fox and the Big Ten Network. He's also teaching a 'Character and Leadership' course at Ohio State.
"I feel very good with where I'm at," he said. "[Ohio State athletic director> Gene Smith and I are very close. I love working here and teaching. ... Three months ago, I had a problem: What if I'm sitting here in October and I can't stand what I'm doing? But I love what I'm doing. My family loves what I'm doing and those are really the only people that matter to me."
There are rumors that Meyer will be back on the sideline next season, with USC the most likely destination. The last time he stepped down from coaching, after the 2010 season at Florida, he returned a year later to take over at Ohio State.
Then he went 7-0 against that team up north, and it doesn't sound like he has any interest in switching sides.
