The lull in sports hasn't slowed Michigan football in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The Wolverines landed their third commit in two days -- and fifth in the past week -- in three-star linebacker Casey Phinney, who announced his decision Friday via Twitter.

A Massachusetts native, Phinney was recruited primarily by defensive coordinator Don Brown, who has deep ties in the New England area. Brown also helped Michigan land coveted 2021 tight end Louis Hansen, who committed on Thursday.

"Thank you to Coach Brown and Coach Harbaugh for giving me this opportunity and recruiting me for the past few years," Phinney said on Twitter.

Phinney is Michigan's seventh commit in the class of 2021, which has also added OL Greg Crippen, DE Dominick Giudice and punter Tommy Doman in recent days.
