97.1 The Ticket -- Don't worry too much, golfers.
Michigan golf courses will be open soon, even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down many facets of public life.
The Michigan Golf Alliance confirmed with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Tuesday that golf courses can remain open for the sole purpose of golf this spring.
In the days since the COVID-19 outbreak reached Michigan, Whitmer has taken many measures to prevent the spread, including limiting restaurants and bars to take-out and delivery orders only.
At first, it appeared the executive order she signed Monday also applied to all areas of golf courses, but it has since been clarified that it only impacts food and beveage services at the course.
Whitmer's office said in a "frequently asked questions" form released Tuesday that "Golf courses are allowed to stay open for play. Indoor facilities like clubhouses or restaurants must close for on-premises consumption but may continue to offer food and beverage through walk-up service and other means expressly permitted by the Executive Order."
So as the weather continues to warm up and we all start to get an itch to hit the links, it appears for now we'll be able to get out and play a few rounds to stay sane.
