Michigan-Ohio State Game Expected To Come Earlier In Season

If The Game is played this year, it likely won't be the last game of the season.

Michigan and Ohio State will likely square off in September or October instead, according to the Columbus Dispatch. This would guard against the possibility of the season being canceled in late November due to COVID-19. If the season is delayed at the start, The Game could be pushed to a later date.

It's ostensibly part of the Big Ten's plan to front-load the schedule with divisional matchups in order to crown a conference champion. The Dispatch notes that Michigan and Ohio State are unlikely to meet in the season-opener.

The Big Ten has already confirmed it will play a conference-only schedule this season. 10 games with two open dates is the most likely format. The full schedule is expected to be released sometime next week.

The Wolverines and Buckeyes have met on the last day of the season every year since 1942. This year's game will come in Columbus.
