There's a chance we'll never see Ypsilanti basketball phenom Emoni Bates play in college.

But if we do, we may well see him at Michigan State.

Bates, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2022, will visit MSU for Saturday night's game against Maryland, according to college basketball insider Adam Zagoria. The Spartans, who also hosted Bates on campus in the fall, have already offered the 6'8 forward who's drawn comparisons to Kevin Durant.

Bates also has offers from the likes of Michigan and Kentucky, according to 247Sports. But his father said that Michigan State and Eastern Michigan are the only schools "showing love" at the moment.

That's likely because Bates could end up going straight from high school to the pros if the NBA lowers its age limit by 2022, as many expect it will.

But if the rules stays the same, or if Bates opts for a year of college, MSU is in position to land arguably its biggest recruit ever.
