A couple days ago, it seemed like a matter of time before Vince Marrow joined Mel Tucker's staff at Michigan State. Maybe it still is.
But Mark Stoops and Kentucky are doing all they can to keep their ace recruiter.
After Tucker made Marrow an offer reportedly worth up to $1 million per year on Wednesday, the Wildcats countered with a significant offer of their own -- an offer "essentially equivalent" to the one offered by Michigan State, according to Kentucky Sports Radio.
And on Friday the Spartans coutnered again, this time upping their original offer. Marrow is expected to make a decision by the end of the day.

— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) February 14, 2020Tucker's desire to bring Marrow aboard is easily understood. The Ohio native has turned into one of the best recruiters in the country at Kentucky, and he's won numerous battles against the likes of Michigan and Ohio State in recent years.
Tucker's contract includes an annual salary pool of $6 million for his assistants, and he sounds intent on landing Marrow whatever it costs. He currently has 10 openings to fill after cutting ties with all of the coaches he inherited from Dantonio.
