97.1 The Ticket -- Any college basketball player's first career start is always special to them.
Jack Hoiberg's is probably a little more so.
The walk-on sophomore guard started his first game for the Spartans Thursday night at Nebraska, who is coached by his dad, Fred Hoiberg.

February 21, 2020 With his dad on the sidelines and his family in the stands, Hoiberg took a 3-pointer a little more than a minute into the game. He got his own rebound and dished it off to Cassius Winston, who sunk his own 3-point attempt. Hoiberg came out of the game shortly after.
Hoiberg had appeared in nine games this season for the Spartans prior to Thursday's game, putting up a total of 14 points.
His dad took the Nebraska job last March after spending three and a half seasons with the Chicago Bulls. Prior to his foray into the NBA, Hoiberg burst onto the scene as a young coach with Iowa State. He led the Cyclones to four NCAA Tournament appearances in five seasons, making a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2014.
