March Madness will continue as the coronavirus spreads across the nation -- but it won't look the same.

Both the men's and women's tournament will be held without fans, NCAA president Mark Emmert announced Wednesday. Only essential staff and family members will be allowed to observe the games in person.

"While I understand how disappointing this is for all fans of our sports, my decision is based on the current understanding of public health, including that of coaches, administrators, fans and, most importantly, our student-athletes," Emmert said in a statement.

It remains to be seen if the NCAA will alter its host sites for each round of games, including the Final Four, which is scheduled to be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
