NFL Declines To Review Potential Pass Interference On Lions' Final Hail Mary [VIDEO]

In a crazy game full of crazy plays, it was the last one the Lions might take issue with.

On Matthew Stafford's Hail Mary from midfield as time expired, it looked like Marvin Jones was pushed to the turf by Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen as the ball was coming down. Jones, who watched the ball land a few yards away near the goal line, immediately signaled for a flag for pass interference. He didn't get it.

And while pass interference is a reviewable call this season, the NFL opted against going that route. According to Pro Football Talk, senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron looked at the play but chose not to open a 'full-blown replay review.'

Had the play been reviewed and overturned, the Lions would have had one untimed down from inside the Chiefs' five-yard line.

You can see Sorenson push Jones off his feet at the 15-minute mark below.

Because the play happened inside the final two minutes, it wasn't something the Lions could challenge. A replay official would have had to call for a review. In this case, Riveron decided against it.

It's unlikely the call would have been reversed, anyway. In the early stages of the new rule, the NFL has made it clear that only the most egregious missed calls -- see: Nickell Robey-Coleman in the NFC Championship -- will be adjusted.

In the end, opening a review may have only invited more controversy.
