Daniel Norris will make his Summer Camp debut Tuesday at Comerica Park.

The left-hander has been cleared to rejoin the Tigers' 60-man player pool after missing most of camp due to a positive test for the coronavirus.

Norris, 27, was diagnosed four weeks ago and endured some serious symptoms. He told the Free Press earlier this month that for five days straight, "I would wake up in the middle of the night and get out of bed and I’d be dropping sweat off my fingertips, like down my forearms, off my fingertips.

“I would get out of bed in the morning and I’d walk to my kitchen and make coffee and I literally felt like I was 75-80 years old, like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is crazy.’”

Norris was slated to be in Detroit's starting rotation this season, but the time away has thrown his role into question. The season begins Friday and Norris hasn't faced live hitters since spring training was paused back in March.

That's not to say he can't join the rotation eventually, but he'll likely start the season by training with the Tigers' taxi squad in Toledo. The only certainties in Detroit's rotation right now are Matthew Boyd, Spencer Turnbull and Ivan Nova.

“It’s going to take him a little bit of time to build up," general manager Al Avila said Monday. "But hopefully he can join us sooner than later, because it’s a pretty short season."
