Jeffrey Okudah or Derrick Brown?
For the Lions, it might be a question of who gets the final say: Bob Quinn or Matt Patricia?
According to
CBS Sports, "Teams are having a tough time figuring out if the Lions are going with Jeff Okudah or Derrick Brown. A league source indicated GM Bob Quinn favors Okudah while head coach Matt Patricia wants Brown."
That would jibe with a report from Sports Illustrated earlier this week that Detroit's coaching staff has
'taken a real liking' to Brown. The Auburn DT and 2019 SEC Defensive Player of the Year would give the Lions a wrecking ball on the interior of their revamped defensive line.
Okudah, meanwhile, has felt like Detroit's guy for the better part of a month. He's a potential No. 1 corner who could step in right away for Darius Slay. And while corners haven't typically been drafted in the top five, Quinn made it clear last week
he's not afraid to do so.
Wherever the Lions pick, both Okudah and Brown should be on the board. Detroit wants to trade back, but
Quinn is reticent to move outside the top tier of players. Per CBS Sports, "It's believed they won't go past the Chargers' pick at No. 6."
One player we can likely cross off Detroit's list is Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons. A three-horse race is down to two in Okudah and Brown.
