Blake Griffin hasn't been the Blake Griffin of last year.

Griffin had perhaps the best season of his career in 2018-19, lifting the Pistons back to the playoffs almost by himself. In 18 games this season, he just hasn't been the same player, hindered by a knee injury he suffered toward the end of last season.

And now Griffin's 2019-20 season might be over. A report from Yahoo Sports says that Griffin, who's missed the Pistons' last four games, is considering season-ending knee surgery.

Detroit Pistons star forward Blake Griffin will visit a specialist this week because of his ailing left knee and season-ending surgery is being considered, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The six-time All-Star will be evaluated by a specialist in Los Angeles at some point this week, sources said.

It's the same knee that Griffin had a minor operation on last April. He hoped to return at full health this season, but it's been clear since his first game that he's not totally recovered.

The Griffin report comes on the heels of the news that the Pistons are shopping Andre Drummond ahead of the trade deadline.

Owner Tom Gores indicated last week that the organization could reverse its win-now course and opt for a rebuild. Detroit is 13-24, and 2-9 in its last 11 games. At this point, it looks like the team is focused on the 2020 Draft.
