The Tigers secured a piece of their 2020 rotation on Friday by inking Daniel Norris to a one-year deal.

Norris, who was arbitration eligible, will make $2.9 million, according to the Detroit News

The lefty enjoyed a full season of health last year for the first time in his career. He started the year in the bullpen, but quickly moved to the rotation and finished with a 4.49 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP over 32 appearances.

Norris saved his best for last. He posted a 2.25 ERA and a 0.875 WHIP over his final eight games, following a reduction to three-inning starts to protect his arm. The Tigers will hope he can pick up where he left off.

They'll also hope he can build his velocity back up. His fastball used to sit in the mid-90's, but he lives closer to 90 now thanks to multiple injuries.

Norris, who turns 27 in April, is entering his sixth season with Detroit. He's under team control through 2021.

The Tigers have signed three of their five arbitration-eligible players, including Michael Fulmer and Buck Farmer. They have until the end of the day Friday to reach deals with Matthew Boyd and JaCoby Jones.
