The NFL is far and away the most popular professional sport in the United States. It's ahead of every sport in terms of ratings and passion. However, the Shield is failing in just one area.
The NFL needs to adopt a Draft Lottery to prevent teams from tanking in a time and era when tanking is en vogue. A draft lottery in the NFL would be so popular that it would be MUST SEE TV.
It would be ratings gold that would likely win the ratings war on a major network in prime time. Below is a breakdown of how the draft odd percentages would be distributed among the 20 teams that miss the postseason.
Teams that finish 11-20 in the standings each get a 1% chance of winning the lottery.
Teams that finish 6-10 in the standings each get a 3% chance of winning the lottery.
The team that finishes 5th gets a 7 % chance of winning the lottery.
The team that finishes 4th gets a 10% chance of winning the lottery.
The team that finishes 3rd gets a 15% chance of winning the lottery.
The team that finishes 2nd gets an 18% chance of winning the lottery.
The team that finishes 1st gets a 25% chance of winning the lottery.
Should the NFL adopt a draft lottery?
