Pat Caputo: An Example Why Tom Brady Is, Well, Tom Brady

And look, Tom Brady is already practicing with teammates.

You can debate whether that is safe or even ethical in the midst of a global pandemic.

Yet, it's undeniable how driven Brady remains to succeed.

He will be 43 in August. Brady has won six Super Bowls and has enough money to last generations.

Brady's gold jacket for the Pro Football Hall of Fame was fitted long ago.

Yet, he is so motivated that he is willing to take risks.

Going to the Bucs, out of his comfort zone and with the attention it is getting, is a risk to his legacy. He could have easily retired. Who would have blamed him?

The pictures of Brady in the Tampa Bay Times didn't show any special regard to social distancing.  There are some quarters it will not be well received. It will be interesting how the NFL responds to it. If players are going to start practicing together, ideally it would be with medically approved protocol in place.

However, Brady is willing to take the risk.

It's the constant debate right?

When do we return to some semblance of normal? It has to start somewhere.

Brady has kick started it in football, for better or worse. There is no way he is falling behind, nor letting his team.

The one measure that can't be denied is Brady's competitiveness. It's beyond the scope of other athletes. It fully explains how a scrawny kid running a 5.2 at combine could achieve so much for so long.

And whether you like it or not, it's the classic example of why Tom Brady is the greatest football player of all time.
