Needing more depth down low, the Pistons have claimed forward Christian Wood off waivers, according to Shams Charania.
Wood, 23, is entering his fourth season in the NBA.
He split last season between the Bucks and the Pelicans. In eight games with New Orleans to close out the campaign, he averaged 16.9 points and 7.9 rebounds.
Overall in 2018-19, Wood averaged 8.2 points and 4.0 rebounds across 21 games.
With center Zaza Pachulia out of the picture, the Pistons don't have a clear No. 2 at that position. While the 6'10 Wood isn't a natural center, he should be able to help spell Andre Drummond.
His contract guarantees him $822,000 if he makes the opening night roster, according to Bobby Marks.
On the Christian Wood waiver claim in Detroit: The roster in Detroit is now at 17 (14 guaranteed contracts- Wood who has $822K guaranteed if on the roster by opening night- 2 players on a Two-Way).The Pistons are under the luxury tax by $223K.
