BOSTON (97.1 The Ticket) -- Longtime Tigers TV broadcaster Mario Impemba will not be returning to the Fox Sports Detroit booth this season, but it does appear he has landed a new job.
Impemba, who was fired after a physical altercation with partner Rod Allen last fall, will be part of the Boston Red Sox radio broadcast team for WEEI, according to the Boston Globe.

He will reportedly split time with Will Flemming -- who currently calls games for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox -- in calling Sox games alongside longtime analyst Joe Castiglione. The play-by-play spot was vacated by Tim Neverett, Castiglione’s partner on WEEI for the past three seasons, when he chose not to renew his contract in December.

Impemba and Allen have both broken the silence the incident that led to their dismissal, but Impemba denies putting Allen in a chokehold. He had called games for FSD for 17 years and reportedly had a rocky relationship with Allen for much of his time in Detroit.

The Globe says WEEI is expected to announce in the next few days the decision to use Impemba and Felmming alongside Castiglione this season.

Impemba will head to the home of the reigning World Series champions, where former Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski is the president of baseball operations.
