(97.1 The Ticket) -- Michigan running back Chris Evans will not play for the Wolverines this fall.
Evans, who was suspended by the university earlier this year because of an academic issue, will be suspended for the entire year, according to a report from the Detroit News. The decision was made by the university and not the football program, according to the report.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh reportedly made the announcement Sunday after speaking at a football camp at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan.

Evans is no longer enrolled at Michigan. He wrote a lengthy letter to the university appealing the suspension, but the university apparently denied the appeal.

Evans reportedly told the newspaper issue was "an academic mistake," and not his grades. He will reportedly be able to return to the university in 2020.

His absence leaves Michigan with three running backs on the depth chart -- senior Tru Wilson, sophomore Christian Turner and incoming freshman Zach Charbonnet.
