97.1 The Ticket -- The Pistons have reportedly added more depth at the point guard position, signing former Milwaukee Buck Tim Frazier, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Haynes tweeted the news Monday afternoon, but terms of the deal were not reported.
Free agent guard Tim Frazier has agreed to a deal with the Detroit Pistons, his agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells Yahoo Sports.
— Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) July 1, 2019Frazier averaged 6.3 points and 3.5 assists per game last season, splitting time between the Bucks and Pelicans. Though those numbers aren't particularly eye-popping, Frazier had a pair of breakout games towards the end of the regular season. He put up 20 points and 15 assists against the Hawks in late March, before scoring 29 points and dishing out 13 assists against the Thunder in the regular season finale.
Frazier figures to be the Pistons' third-string point guard after they agreed to sign veteran Derrick Rose on Sunday night, when the NBA free agency period opened. No deals can be finalized until July 6.
With the departures of Ish Smith and Jose Calderon, the Pistons were thin at the point, with only Reggie Jackson left on the roster. Rose and Frazier will give the Pistons plenty of experience at the position. Frazier has been in the league since the 2014-15 season, when he signed with the 76ers. He first saw extended action in the league when he signed with the Portland Trail Blazers the following season.
Frazier played four seasons at Penn State, earning All-Big Ten honors for his breakout 2011-12 season, when he averaged 18.8 points and 6.7 assists a game.
The Pistons were reportedly set to meet with center JaVale McGee on Monday, looking to add depth in the paint. In 75 games for the Lakers last season, McGee averaged a career-high 12.0 points and 7.5 rebounds. He played about 22 minutes per night.
