97.1 The Ticket -- Hockey Hall of Famer Cammi Granato has become the first female scout in the NHL.
Granato, a former captain of the U.S. Women's Hockey Team, was hired Wednesday to be a scout for the Seattle expansion team that's set to begin play in the 2021-2022 season.

— NHL Seattle (@NHLSeattle_) September 25, 2019Granato was a two-time Olympian and played on the 1998 team, which won the gold medal in the inaugural women's competition at the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. She also played in every IIHF Women's World Championship from 1990 to 2005 before being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.
Granato is the sister of longtime NHL player and coach Tony Granato, who is now the head coach of the Wisconsin men's hockey team at the collegiate level. She is married to Hall-of-Famer Ray Ferraro, who played 18 NHL seasons and works as a broadcaster for NBC Sports Network.
Seattle, which has yet to receive a nickname, has also named Ulf Samuelsson, Stu Barnes, Dave Hunter and John Goodwin as pro scouts. Ron Francis, No. 5 all-time on the NHL's points list, was hired as the expansion franchise's general manager this summer.
