OMAHA, Neb. (97.1 The Ticket) -- In search of its first national championship since 1962, the Michigan baseball team kicked off the championship series at the College World Series in a big way, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning off Vanderbilt starter Drake Fellows.
They added two more in the top of the second, generating major buzz among Wolverine fans on social media.
But their play wasn't the only thing getting attention online -- Vanderbilt's military appreciation uniforms appeared to be quite polarizing. Some hated 'em, and some loved 'em.
Prior to the game, the Vanderbilt baseball Twitter page posted a short video explaining the ideals behind the uniform.
"Green is the color of hope. It's the renewal and well-being and the color of America's veterans," Vandy coach Tim Corbin said in the video.
Michigan, meanwhile, took the field sporting uniforms that pay homage to the '62 championship team.
