Twitter Was Not Kind To Alshon Jeffery After Drop That Led To Game-Ending INT

NEW ORLEANS (97.1 The Ticket) -- Nick Foles' magic has run out.

The New Orleans Saints advanced to the NFC Championship Game and eliminated the Philadelphia Eagles with a 20-14 win at the Superdome Sunday night.

Foles -- who had become notorious for winning in the playoffs and prevailing in clutch situations -- and the Eagles were in the midst of what was shaping up to be another potential game-winning drive. Coming out of the two-minute warning, the Eagles were just outside the red zone when Foles threw a short pass to wide receiver Alshon Jeffry.

All the way through the air, it looked like it would be a completion and the Foles magic would be alive and well for the time being.

But then it went right through Jeffry's hands and Marshon Lattimore interceptred it, effectively ending the game, and Twitter exploded. Though the Eagles defense did have a chance to get off the field and give the ball back to Foles with what would have been about 20 seconds left, they let Alvin Kamara go up the middle untouched on 3rd and 10 to seal the game.

The Eagles were the biggest story last Monday morning, but for very different reasons, as they escaped damage, thanks to a double-doink from Cody Parkey. This Monday, Jeffry will take center stage, as his drop did on Sunday night.

Even an official NBC Sports Chicago Bears account was throwing jabs -- which seems a little questionable because, you know, the Bears had an even more brutal ending against Jeffry's new team just last week.

Jeffry did get a little love on Twitter, though, for a nice catch earlier in the game and some sympathy from fans who pointed out Foles and coach Doug Pedersen were quick to console him.

While the unlikely heroics of Foles may have come to an end, Eagles fans probably can't be too upset after this loss. They did, afterall, win a Super Bowl last season -- something fans in this town still dream of.
