Thanks to everyone who came out to get a great sub for a great cause. 97.1 The Ticket and Jersey Mike’s Subs teamed up for the company’s annual "Day of Giving". 100% of the sales were donated to the 97.1 The Ticket/Beaumont Hospital Student Heart Check Program.
Morning show hosts Mike "Stoney" Stone and Heather Park were the celebrity sandwich makers. Anyone in food service will admit the lunch rush can be a little stressful, but the radio hosts jumped right in.
"They move so fast," said Heather Park as she marveled at the efficiency of the Jersey Mike's employees.
"I make the sandwiches and then I eat the sandwiches. Love this. Favorite day of the year helping out with the Student Heart Check," said Stone.
"With that money, we're able to screen kids for free in the community for cardiac issues ...", said Student Heart Check Manager Jennifer Shea. "We're also able to buy AED's (automatic electronic defibrillator) for schools especially in the Detroit Public School system," she added.
Every franchisee that we work with across the country is invested in their market. Not just financially, but socially with the community. Trying to make a difference, one sub at a time," said Jersey Mike's Michigan Area Director Gary Staub.
Nationally, more than 1,500 Jersey Mike’s locations will donate to local charities for their 9th Annual Month of Giving campaign. Last year's event raised more than $6 million.
