97.1 The Ticket -- When the PGA Tour comes to Detroit at the end of this month, it appears one of golf's biggest names will not be present.
Speaking after his final round at the US Open on Sunday, Woods hinted that he is going to be taking some time off with his family. When asked if he would play before the British Open, he said "I'll play at home." That likely means Woods will be skipping the Rocket Mortgage Classic June 27-30 at Detroit Golf Club.

Lots of questions about schedule, but sounds like our man is about to shut it down for a bit. Said he’s going to take some “family time” from here, and when asked specifically if he’ll play before the British he answered: “I’ll play at home.”

Woods shot a 70 on Sunday, finishing -2 for the tournament.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic marks the first time the PGA Tour has come to Michigan since the Buick Open stopped in 2009. It is the first PGA Tour event to be held within Detroit city limits.

The event's founder, Dan Gilbert, is expected to miss the tournament as he continues to recover from a stroke.

Some other big names on the tour, however, have committed to play in the Rocket Mortgage Classic, including Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler and Bubba Watson.
