10 years after making the first and only All-Star team of his lengthy career, Edwin Jackson is back with the Tigers.

The team signed him to a minor-league deal on Monday, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck. Jackson will report to Triple-A Toledo.

The 35-year-old righty was released last week by the Blue Jays, the 14th team for which he has pitched in the big leagues -- an MLB record. He posted an 11.12 ERA over eight appearances for Toronto.

Just a year ago, Jackson pitched well for an Oakland A's team that made the playoffs. He made 17 starts and recorded a 3.33 ERA. The Tigers are hoping he can recover that form.

Detroit's rotation has been decimated by injuries this season, with Michael Fulmer and Matt Moore going down for the year -- and possibly Tyson Ross as well. And Matthew Boyd's future with the team is uncertain beyond next week's trade deadline.

If Jackson pitches well in Toledo, it likely won't be long before he gets a shot in Detroit.

There's also the possibility he could pitch out of the bullpen. Jackson performed well as a reliever in 2015 with the Braves and the Cubs. A spot in the bullpen figures to open up if and when Shane Greene is traded.

Either way, Jackson should feel right at home in Detroit. The best season of his 17-year career came with the Tigers in 2009 when he won 13 games and pitched to a 3.62 ERA over 33 starts.
