Tigers Draft SS Trei Cruz In Third Round Of 2020 MLB Draft

The Tigers added to their growing stash of prospects by selecting SS Trei Cruz with the 73rd overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft Thursday night. 

Trei Cruz comes from Rice.  He hit .305 with an .913 OPS in his sophomore season and was hitting .333 with a .987 OPS through 16 games this year. 

The Tigers entered the draft with the fifth-best farm system in baseball, and it's only gotten better since. They took Arizona State slugger Spencer Torkelson No. 1 overall and Ohio State catcher Dillon Dingler with the first pick in round two, two potential cornerstones. 

They also drafted LF Daniel Cabrera.
