Rolling through his first professional season, Casey Mize hit a speed bump Thursday night. Hopefully that's all it is.
The Tigers No. 1 prospect and the third overall prospect in baseball (via MLB Pipeline) left his ninth start start of the season for Double-A Erie with an apparent shoulder injury.
In the third inning, Mize seemed to feel discomfort after throwing a pitch, and Erie's catcher, manager and trainer quickly came to the mound. A decision was made swiftly to take Mize out of the game.
Casey Mize has just been taken out of the game. Catcher Kade Scivicque saw something, and brought everybody with him. Not good... not good at all. pic.twitter.com/uHtVegvlxV

The good news is that Mize apparently seemed fine following the game.
Casey Mize didn't look too injured when he left visitor's clubhouse about 20 minutes ago. Neither his elbow or shoulder were wrapped. Even lifted a suitcase into the bus. #mize #tigers #erie #seawolves
