They waited until the final hour, but the Tigers eventually made a deal on Wednesday.

Detroit dealt All-Star closer Shane Greene to the Braves shortly before the 4 p.m. trade deadline, per multiple reports.

It remains to be seen who Atlanta is sending Detroit in return.

Outside of Matthew Boyd, who the Tigers were never inclined to move, Greene was Detroit's best trade chip. He's in the midst of a career year and remains under team control through next season.

The 28-year-old has a 1.18 ERA, 0.868 WHIP and 22 saves in 25 chances this season.
