Everybody is doing Mock Drafts. The morning show Jamie & Stoney did their top 5 draft pick predictions. Here's a look at mine. Wouldn't this be awesome?
1 – Panthers – Joe Burrow
- Trade w/ Bengals; Bengals receive 7th and 38th in 2020; 1st & 3rd Rounders in 2021.
- The Panthers with a new owner, a new coach and LSU OC Joe Brady make a huge gamble for the future. The Cam Newton era is over. The Bengals get a king's ransom in return, build for the future methodically and enter the Trevor Lawrence / Justin Fields sweepstakes in 2021.
2 – Dolphins – Tua Tagovailoa
- Trade w/ Redskins; Redskins receive 5th, 18th & 56th picks in 2020.
- The Dolphins trade up to get their franchise quarterback giving up probably more than most teams usually have to. But the stakes are high because of Tua's value and the Dolphins have the most immediate assets in their draft war chest. The Redskins commit to Dwayne Haskins for one more year, build methodically for the future and enter the Lawrence / Fields sweepstakes should Haskins fail.
3 – Lions – Chase Young
- Bob Quinn does the smart thing and sits idle despite temptation to get Tua. Quinn's patience pays off handsomely with arguably the best player falling in his lap. The Lions try to win now with Stafford one more time. If they don't, hopefully they're bad enough to be in the Lawrence / Fields sweepstakes.
4 – Raiders – Jerry Jeudy
- Trade w/ Giants; Giants receive 12th & 19th picks in 2020.
- The Giants say they're open for business and find the perfect trade partner in the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders need a weapon for new quarterback Tom Brady. The Giants land two quality picks in a deep draft where they can address immediate needs.
5 – Isaiah Simmons
- The Redskins get easily the second best defensive player in the Draft. The impact Simmons could make in the NFL could be greater than Chase Young. And now the Skins have two more picks in with the 18th & 56th. This trade is almost too smart for the Redskins to make.
