LAS VEGAS (97.1 The Ticket) -- Finn the Bat Dog is a good boy.
One umpire Tuesday night was not.
Known for traveling the Minor Leagues and providing his services -- and a lot of laughs and smiles for fans -- Finn the Bat Dog made his most recent stop at Las Vegas Ballpark for the Las Vegas Aviators' game against the Sacramento River Cats.
As Finn went out to retrieve a bat early in the game, the home plate umpire scooped it up before Finn could get his teeth on it, throwing it back towards the dugout. The ump, as you would imagine, was greeted with a thunderous chorus of boos from Aviators fans.
Might be the loudest boo in the history of umpire's. I still love you guys though!! @MiLB @SportsCenter @MLB @AviatorsLV @LVBallpark @notthefakeSVP #umpire pic.twitter.com/ACsm88seKi
— Finn The Bat Dog (@finnthebatdog) April 10, 2019It's not clear whether the umpire didn't see Finn, or just didn't know the dog was there to do his job. Or worse yet -- maybe he was just a big old grump.
Finn got redemption later in the game and posed on top of a fire hydrant, making Aviators fans happy once again.
What could possibly be more important than the very first bat retrieve in @AviatorsLV baseball history!!! Well here it was.... Ha!@MiLB pic.twitter.com/wRf1YjGaqD
