Monique Touchette-Soper said her son Hunter shot video of the large short-tailed wild cat on Saturday outside their home in Lexington.
The Soper's live on 25 acres and were woken up by their dog. That's when her son Hunter started filming.
A Michigan Department of Natural Resources specialist reviewed the video and told MLive that he believes the cat was a lynx and not a cougar.
