(WWJ) -- Many businesses have temporarily closed their doors for business as the coronavirus pandemic rages on, but there are still scores of grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations and restaurants still open across metro Detroit.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive "stay home, stay safe" order that requires all Michiganders to stay put, except for necessities like health care, food and essential business.

Here's a look at what's still open during these unprecedented times:

-- Most grocery stores and supermarkets remain open -- including Meijer, Walmart, Sam's Club, Target, Kroger, Aldi and Costco -- while shortening store hours and offering special early morning hours for seniors and those most susceptible to the virus. Many stores are taking extra measures to keep customers and employees safe, like installing plexiglass shields in checkout lanes.

-- Other daily essentials like gas stations, pharmacies, local grocery stores, hardware and pet stores also remain open.
