Is it time for Michigan to give up? We're not talking about a football team, mind you, we're talking about the state.
Because apparently Wisconsin owns us.
That's the story the latest sports numbers tell us, anyway, as Wisconsin football gleefully tweeted out this weekend.
Wisconsin 61, Central Michigan 0Wisconsin 35, Michigan 14Wisconsin 38, Michigan State 0Send us the deed, @UpperPeninsula
— Wisconsin Football (@BadgerFootball) October 12, 2019But we're strong and hardy Midwesterners! We don't just roll over and take it when a cheese-lover tells us what to do.
Er, wait, some of us do.
After Wisconsin Tweeted that jab, the popular Upper Peninsula twitter feed parried the French way. They gave up and changed their name to the 'Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin.'
Treachery!
It's official, I belong to Wisconsin now. https://t.co/qqdEgyxhkY
— Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin (@UpperPeninsula) October 13, 2019Actually, points awarded to the Upper Peninsula for a hilarious Twitter feed. At one point, they said they're "Wisconsin's problem now."
Dear @PureMichigan,I -- AM -- NOW -- WISCONSIN --You may now disconnect the Mackinac Bridge. Keep the island.Sincerely,Still America's Peninsulahttps://t.co/ClVvStkjl1
— Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin (@UpperPeninsula) October 13, 2019Also, cheese pasties are now a thing.
— Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin (@UpperPeninsula) October 13, 2019Also, weed is illegal again.
— Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin (@UpperPeninsula) October 13, 2019While this works itself out, let's think about the number of days -- 1,016 in all -- since the last time the Green Bay Packers beat the Detroit Lions.
Who's laughing now.
