Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) and dozens of fellow Michigan legislators veered out of the coronavirus lane to pitch the Lions on hiring Robert Saleh as their next head coach -- and 97.1 The Ticket's Mike Stone wasn't having it.

He went after those legislators for not tackling more important issues during the Stoney & Jansen Show Friday morning on 97.1 The Ticket.

"Look, obviously a lot of people want Robert Saleh. And they should, he's definitely well-qualified," Stoney said. "But if there's one thing we know about the Ford family, they don't like to be told what to do. So stay out of this, really!"

Then he got really fired up:

"36 bipartisan Michigan legislators? I don’t know, why don’t you get together and try to figure out how to get some aid to businesses that need money in this state! Rather than worry about who the damn football coach is going to be of the Detroit Lions!"

As far as endorsements go, the one that Saleh got from 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman probably means a bit more.
