Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón’s office announced that adult film star Ron Jeremy has been indicted more than 30 sexual assault counts involving multiple victims, some occurring as far back as 20 years ago.
A grand jury handed down the indictment on Aug. 19. It was unsealed on Wednesday.
The performer, whose legal name is Ron Jeremy Hyatt, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to all counts, which are various and range from forcible rape to sexual battery by restraint and lewd acts upon a minor child.
Hyatt, 67, was arrested and charged in June 2020. Prosecutors have alleged that he sexually assaulted 21 women over a 23-year period, dating back to at least 1996. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 51.
Hyatt’s colleagues in the adult film industry have attested that his alleged abuse of women was an “open secret” for many years.
A number of Hyatt’s alleged offenses appeared to have occurred during adult film and photo shoots, or at parties in nightclubs and strip clubs; though some occurred at the performer’s apartment in the Franklin Towers building in Hollywood.
Hyatt is due back in court on Oct. 12 for a pre-trial conference. His case remains under investigation by the L.A. Count Sheriff’s Department, the LAPD and the D.A.’s Bureau of Investigation.
