Going to the movie theaters to see a film for the first time is an experience many cinephiles cherish. However, the one knock movie theaters have dealt with in recent years is the increase in ticket prices. Sadly, prices have continued to go up, and now AMC Theaters has announced ticket prices for one of the year’s most anticipated films will be even higher.

After months of anticipation, ‘The Batman’ is only a few days away from its premiere. However, moviegoers will be paying a bit more than expected as AMC will reportedly begin experimenting with “variable pricing.” This means prices will change based on a film’s demand and viewers of ‘The Batman’ will have to pay an extra $1.50 to see the film, according to UPROXX.

While many were disappointed by the price increase, AMC CEO Adam Aron claimed it is something they have done before in other countries. “Indeed, in Europe, we charge a premium for the best seats in the house, as do just about all other sellers of tickets in other industries — think sports events, concerts, and live theater, for example,” said Aron. Hopefully ‘The Batman’ is worth it or fans won’t be happy.
