Chipotle is making it rain burritos and Bitcoin.

In honor of National Burrito Day on Thursday, April 1st, the restaurant chain is giving away $100,000 worth of burritos and $100,000 in cryptocurrency as part of an interactive game called “Burritos or Bitcoin,” the company said in a press release.

Chipotle is joining forces with Stefan Thomas, the CEO of Coil who infamously lost hundreds of millions in Bitcoin after failing to remember the login to his hard drive, to launch the game on BurritosOrBitcoin.com.

To play, Chipotle fans will have ten chances to guess a six-digit code to unlock the prize of a free burrito or $25,000 in Bitcoin. If you use up all ten tries without winning a prize, you still could earn an undisclosed consolation gift.

“If players are unsuccessful in their ten attempts and endure the same fate as Thomas, they may be surprised and delighted with a special offer from Chipotle,” the company said.

"National Burrito Day is a huge moment for Chipotle as our fans traditionally flock to our restaurants and digital platforms to order their favorites," Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, added. "We're always looking for unique ways to enhance the celebration, and this year, we're giving fans the opportunity to acquire two highly valuable assets: Burritos or Bitcoin."

The contest begins on April 1st at 9am PT and ends nine hours later at 6pm PT.  There is no purchase necessary to play and the contest is open to legal US residents 18 years of age or older.

In total, Chipotle expects 10,000 fans will win one free burrito, 50 will win $500 in Bitcoin, and three will win $25,000 in Bitcoin.

And while April 1st may be April Fools Day, this contest is no joke!
