(WWJ) Seasoned road warriors are familiar with Buc-ee's, the popular chain of convenience stores promising the very cleanest restrooms, tasty brisket sandwiches and snacks you can't find anywhere else.

We don't have any Buc-ee's in Michigan as of yet, but there's chatter that that could change as a new Buc-ee's billboard on I-96 in West Michigan has people buzzing.

The sign — emblazed with the Buc-ee's logo and mascot — reads only “444 miles."

So, what could it mean?

WWJ's Jackie Paige reports if you drive 444 miles from Lowell, Michigan, that'll put you in Richmond, Kentucky, which is the nearest Bucky's location.

Despite that fact, some Buc-ee's fans are speculating on social media that the billboard is a way to put the state on notice of an impending Buc-ee's.

So far, however, there's been no announcement to back that up.

Asked by WOOD-TV if this is a hint that Michigan could soon get its very first Buc-ee's, Jeff Nadalo, general counsel for Buc-ee’s had this to say: "We’re looking everywhere. No state is off the radar. We’re eager to put our travel centers in places where we think people will appreciate and need it.”

As for why they'd advertise in a state without a Buc-ee’s, Nadalo told WOOD: “We’re growing across the country, and we have identified certain locations, including in Michigan, where we believe those folks going south will appreciate getting notified 400, 500 miles in advance that a Buc-ee’s is likely to be in their path on their travels south."
