Just when you thought 2020 couldn't get any more odd an Irish Supreme Court has taken on the issue of whether Subway bread is real bread.

And they ruled that the answer is no.

Wait, what makes bread, bread you might ask? Subway bread had five times the amount of sugar allowed under Ireland’s Value-Added Tax Act of 1972.

According to theguardian.com: “The argument depends on the acceptance of the prior contention that the Subway heated sandwich contains ‘bread’ as defined, and therefore can be said to be food for the purposes of the Second Schedule rather than confectionary. Since that argument has been rejected, this subsidiary argument must fail,” the court ruled. The appeal was dismissed.

If you want my opinion, Subway bread is amazing and they should keep up the great work!
