When Disney first took over the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, many fans were nervous about what would happen to their favorite movie. Now, after multiple movies and television series, fan reaction is mixed, though most still long for the days of the original trilogy. Luckily, those fans may soon get their wish, as George Lucas is reportedly planning to take back control of the franchise, and is working on a new trilogy.

Rumors of George Lucas’ involvement with the franchise has swirled for years, since he first sold the ‘Star Wars’ rights to the Walt Disney Company in 2012. Those rumors intensified when Lucas was spotted on the set of ‘The Mandalorian,’ and was given writing credits for the upcoming prequel show, ‘Andor.’ Now, according to InsideTheMagic.net, it is being reported that Lucas recently met with Disney about plans for a new trilogy, which he wrote.

As of now, these reports have not been confirmed by The Walt Disney Company or Lucasfilm. Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek recently confirmed Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will remain in her position for the foreseeable future. Still, many fans are hoping this is what will return their favorite movie franchise to its glory days.
