(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Local comic book lovers will soon get to see their own city in ink, before Chicago is destroyed by Godzilla.
“Yeah, I’m going to get a billion copies, and I expect to sell them all over the summer.”
Anthony is the store manager at Graham Crackers Comics in the Loop, located within sight of the bean, a place among Chicago buildings and landmarks that Anthony hopes will fall prey to a Godzilla rampage in the upcoming Godzilla Vs Chicago comic book.
“It'd be tough to see it go, but at the same time – in my mind – if I could be like, ‘Oh, that's our store right there. Godzilla just barely missed it. We're saved.’ That would be awesome.”
The comic book is the product of local writer Tim Seeley and artist Ryan Brown with significant contributions. It is set to be released next Wednesday.
“In front of the store, Tim Seeley is writing. It and yeah, he's a Chicago native, as is Ryan Brown who's supplying the art. And we are very, very stoked about it, especially being a tourist location store right across the street from the Bean, we get people from all over the world that are looking for Chicago comics, and yeah, Godzilla destroying it will be something I think they'll enjoy.”
As for who will play the hero in Godzilla Vs Chicago?
“I hope there are no heroes. I hope Godzilla wins and you know, we just destroy it all and start all over again.”
